The president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Sergio Lloret, attended yesterday, Wednesday, November 30, the formal act of reception of the works executed in the Public Space of the Mirador de Betancuria. The event was also attended by the mayor of Betancuria, Marcelino Sardinia, as well as several members of the Municipal Corporation and those responsible for the company awarded the work, executed by Crispal Islas SL.

The work of conditioning and landscape improvement developed in the Mirador have meant "an essential action to return the environment to the conditions of safety and comfort required for its use and enjoyment by citizens and visitors of this strategic enclave for the municipality and for the Island", said President Sergio Lloret.

The Insular councilor also highlighted the importance of the work in order to "return the architectural beauty to this magnificent space, which is part of the tourist attractions that we have to protect and maintain in order to support the economic and structural sustainability of the sector, as well as the municipality and the different sectors that benefit from it. "

Lloret recalled the consideration of Betancuria as "one of the most beautiful villages in Spain", recognition that supposes "one of the incentives that make thousands of tourists want to know and tour the corners of the municipality every year". Reason why "itis an obligation for the administrations to carry out this type of interventions that not only seek maximum security of the key spaces of the municipality, but also maintain and highlight the beauty and living history of its architecture and landscape".

In the same sense, the mayor of the municipality, Marcelino Sardinia, stressed the importance of the action developed to "beautify" the Mirador that, "within the historic complex and the Special Plan of Betancuria, together with other works, contributes to the work that is being done to guarantee the continuity of Betancuria within 'The Most Beautiful Villages in Spain', An association of global visibility that is bringing so many benefits to the municipality in general".

Also, the mayor of Betancuria wanted to "thank the Cabildo de la Isla that, through cooperation agreements, such as FEDECAN with which this intervention has been executed, we can continue to develop important works like this, others that are underway and those that will start soon, which contribute to improving the municipality. "

The work of conditioning and landscape improvement developed in this Public Space, which have had a budget of just over 150 thousand euros, have provided the entire area with the adequate public lighting service, in order to provide the maximum security conditions to the space, in addition to repairing and reconditioning the walls and stone pavements of the surrounding path, belonging to the Insular Network of Trails, as well as the spaces located in two other points of San Buenaventura Street. Walls that stand as delimiting elements of the Public Space and that serve in turn to sustain it.

Likewise, the intervention has included the landscape improvement of the space attached to the path that was in a state of degradation, through the provision of new walls and masonry pavement completely camouflaged with the environment, in order to maintain the appearance of the enclave.

Finally, the entire area has been provided with the appropriate public lighting service in order to provide maximum safety conditions to the space.
