Fuerteventura continues to have two cases of monkeypox and two other probable cases pending confirmation.
The Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands notifies three new cases and nine in study of monkeypox since Friday. Therefore, since the beginning of the declaration of the health alert there are 107 confirmed cases, of which 71 were detected in Gran Canaria, 34 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura.
All active cases are having mild symptoms and remain in home isolation receiving follow-up by Primary Care.
Thus, the confirmed and reported cases in the Canary Islands since the beginning of the alert and until today are as follows:
- 107 confirmed cases, 71 in Gran Canaria, 34 in Tenerife and two in Fuerteventura.
- Two probable cases, pending confirmation, reported in Fuerteventura.
- Seven suspected cases, pending confirmation, six reported in Gran Canaria and one in Tenerife.
The protocol of the Ministry of Health classifies cases between probable and suspected depending on whether the patient meets clinical criteria and epidemiological criteria (probable cases) or if he only presents clinical criteria and in such a case is considered a suspected case.
