Planning update for La Oliva district
#1
There is an interesting article in Diario de Fuerteventura. It is in this week's printed edition. I can access a pdf online in Spanish but the translation isn't worth copying here, the words all overlap. If you'd like to have a look for yourself:

https://www.diariodefuerteventura.com/

(El plan de La Oliva hace crecer El Cotillo y resucita urbanizaciones)

If anyone can produce a decent translation copy please add to the post! Or if your Spanish is good a precis would be appreciated!

there is something odd about this link, I run Windows 11 and my computer is set to automatically translate from Spanish, and always does, but not from this  link although it says it is translated it is not, I have tried opening the original copy of the newspaper but I have failed.

Morning John - I am the same Windows 11 and auto translate, I think the reason it didn't translate is that the link is to a PDF copy of the paper not to a website version, it is websites that auto translated

The following works for me with Windows 10.

Download the PDF file to your hard drive.

Open Google Translate:  https://translate.google.es/?hl=en

Select Documents, upload the PDF file and then select translate.

Hope that works

Ok here we go, sort of wnt Tardis,s way

New General Plan of La Oliva: grows
El Cotillo and urbanizations revive
The future planning defines the residential expansion zone and an industrial estate in
Corralejo, while drawing the great tourist growth in El Jablito, south of the Dunes
M. RIVEIRO
west, the claim to legalize Tsar Origo Mare, the anticipation of
that El Cotillo grows and returns
to urban life from Par que Ho Holandi and El Jablito to
the South.
The current planning in the
municipality of La Oliva was approved in 2000. “In the last 20 years”, reflects the
writing team, led by
Francisco González-Jaraba, “the
municipality has increased from 6,956
inhabitants to 24,508, multiplying its population by 3.5 ”
in these two decades. This rapid growth is due to,
adds the writing team, “almost
exclusively ”to tourism, from
that the northern municipality was
"Pioneer" in Fuerteventura.
However, the growth
tourism and population has not
translated into a distribution
effective wealth. In the memory of the new Plan are reflected
per capita income data
of the municipalities of Fuerteven ture. Among those who are your rists, La Oliva is the one with the lowest figures
(18,600 euros a year), behind
from Antigua (20,400 euros) and Pá jara (34,200 euros).
According to the balance of the current situation, in the area of Corralejo, the Ge afond urbanization and the failed development
Atalaya Dorada, 23,731 accommodation places have been built
(10,910 hotels and the rest ex trahotel). Between El Cotillo
and the Origo Ma re urbanization, with an infringement procedure from the European Commission (more information in the
page 13), add another 1,581
beds (283 of them, hotel).
In total, just over 25,000
tourist squares.
If the municipality of La Oliva has
experienced a significant population boom linked to
tourism, as recognized by the writing team of the new
General Plan, and has almost one inhabitant for each tourist bed,
the growth could have been even much higher. When the last La Oliva plan was approved, in the year
In 2000, 24 pieces of land were recognized for tourism purposes. In total, they totaled 2,864 hectares (28.6 million meters
squares), with up to 116,588
tourist beds, which would mean multiplying almost by five
all current offer. Ur banizable land in total, with land
also dedicated to other uses,
like the residential one, they raised to
34.2 million square meters of the ground with expectations of
be built in La Oliva.
Some of the urbanizations, with names that many
of residents in La Oliva do not
They will sound like nothing to them, they were drawn in totally remote places,
where today it would be unthinkable to build. This is the case of the urbanization of Tamboril, more than one
million square meters with
some 2,900 tourist beds, in
the coast of Majanicho towards the
North. Or the one with the partial Golf plan
Country Club, a huge pocket of soil more than four million meters east of Vi llaverde in the direction of Parque
Dutch, between the Escan fraga mountain and the Caima mountain. In
these two examples, the proposal
of the writing team is to declassify the soil, due to its isolation and
"fragility".
Whoever circulates on the new highway from Caldereta to Corralejo,
probably without knowing it, it is works of a vi
