Puerto del Rosario welcomes Christmas with its traditional lighting of lights.
Christmas has officially begun in the capital of Fuerteventura. This Friday, December 9, Puerto del Rosario gave at 6:00 p.m. the starting signal to one of the most special times of the year, Christmas, with the lighting of lights that fill with life, light and color every street, neighborhood and town of the municipality, in an act in which the mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, together with the president of the Association of Merchants of Puerto del Rosario, Daniela Plotegher, were in charge, along with all the public present, of counting down to the most "luminous" lighting seen so far in the capital of Majorera.
In addition to the lighting also began the activities planned for this Christmas in Puerto del Rosario with the Christmas bus, animated characters and a parade. In the act it was also possible to enjoy the performance of the parranda Rancho de Tetir and a batucada that filled the center of the capital with music and drums.
The City Council of Puerto del Rosario has invested more budget in lighting during this Christmas with the intention of reinforcing the Christmas light in the towns of the municipality, an old demand of neighborhood associations and merchants.
In this sense, for this Christmas 12 new 3D elements have been acquired for the streets of the capital, highlighting the passable ball of almost 5 meters high or the arch in the form of a snowman installed in the popular street Primero de Mayo. In addition, the number of bulbs and decoration has increased in all the towns of the municipality, which means more than 400 columns illuminated only outside the capital.
As for the program of activities that start this Saturday with the first children's party, in the Plaza de La Paz from 10.00 to 14.00 hours, it is designed for the enjoyment of the little ones until next January 5, and that will be increased with the different parties for adults that will be published throughout these days, highlighting, in turn, the celebration of the New Year's Eve and the New Year's Eve party, to which add the musical performances on the weekends of December 17, 24 and 31 in La Plaza de la Paz.
Another of the most anticipated Events by all is the Three Kings Parade on January 5, which returns in all its splendor. In the cultural section, stand out, among other activities, the workshops of 'Creative Christmas', taught by Cristina Quesada, in the Municipal Library of Puerto del Rosario and in the House of Culture, as well as other
children's performances that will take place in towns such as El Matorral on December 21, with the musical of 'The Grinch', at 6:30 p.m. and, the next day, on the 22nd, also at 6:30 p.m., children's and musical performances will be held by 'Los Dandys del Swing', in the Plaza de Las 90 viviendas, in addition to other performances that will be announced in the coming days through the social networks of the Department of Culture and the City Council of Puerto del Rosario.
Also, you can visit in the House of Culture of Puerto del Rosario the Portal of Bethlehem of Christmas made by the students of the Sacred Heart.
