The Cabildo will replace the six blades of La Molina de Tefía.
After the fall of three of the blades as a result of the DANA, the Services will proceed to the restitution of all the structures.
The Carpentry Workshop of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, dependent on the Area of Infrastructure, Works and Machinery of the Insular Institution, is currently carrying out the reconstruction work of the six blades of La Molina de Tefía, after the breakage and fall of three of the current blades, happened in the early hours of this past Monday, December 26, to Tuesday, December 27, as a result of the strong winds that have been registered on the island during the passage of the DANA that began to hit the Archipelago since last Monday 26.
After the breakage and fall of three of the current blades of La Molina, the Works and Machinery Service of the Island Corporation proceeded yesterday, Wednesday, December 28, to its withdrawal and the analysis of the state of the blades of La Molina.
An analysis that has concluded the necessary replacement of the six blades in their entirety, due to the level of deterioration of the stringers of the same and in order to preserve the good condition of the structure that is part of the Historical and Cultural Heritage of the island of Fuerteventura.
These stringers are constituted by a solid piece that is coupled in the central biscuit of rotation and to which the rest of the wooden structures of each blade are added, which is why its complete replacement is necessary in order to reestablish the structural system of La Molina.
The works, which will require the reconstruction of the six blades, are expected to be executed within 20 days, from which the blades will be reinstalled, replacing those still in the structure, with the new pieces, which are being designed following the original pattern in order to retain their traditional appearance.
La Molina de Tefía is one of the 23 mills on the island declared of Cultural Interest (BIC) in recognition of its historical and patrimonial character that recalls the agricultural past of the area during the last centuries.
