The Indian downstairs in the shopping centre opposite the cinema is finally open again, so we decided we would stop in and give it a try tonight.
We ordered some poppadums, which were probably the freshest I've ever had, and the selection of chutneys/sauces were the nicest and freshest I've had in a long time— not too spicy, but certainly not bland. For starter, I had the Indian Chicken Wings, my companion had the Onion Bahji. Both were excellent. Mains were a Chicken Jalfrezi which was decent, and a Chicken Bhuna which was super. The sauces were the main draw; the chicken itself wasn't as tender as it could have been, and next time we will opt for the chicken tikka versions. Portions were good; neither excessive nor tiny. The long-grain (wild?) rice was a treat, but one is probably big enough to share.
Pricewise, it was comparable to the other Indians around— a little cheaper than the one under Caleta Garden, but not as cheap as the one across from the Happy Centre.
The only complaint was that we went in the early evening before the doors to the front of the shopping centre were closed, so it was quite chilly— they were closing them as we left, but that was unfortunately too late for us. Next time, we will probably sit further back, closer to the kitchen... But we will absolutely go back, and I would recommend it to everyone! The staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was good, and it was lovely to sit inside in a nice clean space and watch the foot traffic go by through the shopping centre. Give it a try if you're looking for a nice Indian meal; it's worth a look!
Due to be there Monday evening Ducks thanks for the heads up and will report back, we have tried all of them in the past except that one and had settled on Bollywood Spice in Montecastillo, but the last couple of times it had deteriorated.
Ive eaten there for lunch in July last year. I am really fussy about my curry (I have in the past travelled miles for the best takeaway).
I walked past this place and if there is one smell which is difficult to ignore it curry. I only had a snack it was chicken chat a starter
and it was excellent

IT recently closed for a refit and b=has only just reopened, whether the ownership is as wasI do not know, but a refit here will usually signal a change of ownership.

I think maybe not in this case, because they kept the name that's shared with the one in town. Unless both changed, I think it might be inconvenient for new owners to share the name if they were trying to establish a clear brand/identity and the two were now unconnected.

...Unless they bought both.
The one in town was still Shivam yesterday, so maybe you are right.
Ok, so we went there last night as planned, very nicely decorated, although not in an Indian Theme, it from the decor could have been anything from Spanish to chines to Italian etc.
We arrived around 7 and following Ducks advice sat inside it was not particularly busy I would estimate about 10 people in total, the downside of this is the noise from the children's play area opposite was a bit of a distraction.
We ordered 2 Poppadums, A garlic Nan Bombay Aloo and one each of lamb and chicken Biryani, a bottle of Water and a glass of Rose total with a tip 50€
The Poppadums were excellent, but I cannot honestly say they were the best I have ever tasted, nonetheless excellent, the chutneys were, without doubt, some of the best I have ever tasted, the Nan bread again was excellent my Lamb Biryani was very good and with more lamb, than I would have expected however my wife's chicken , and I quote " it is like chewing cord " and looking at it certainly looked fibrous, the wine well if Sarsons had had a hand in making it I would not have been surprised.
All in all, it was a pleasant evening, the staff were exceptionally friendly and polite, would we return? possibly, but we will not be rushing back there.
