Thank you! Will probably head up there on Monday as it's too late now. Spent the whole day on a wild goose cockroach chase after waking up in great distress at 5am from a roach-centered nightmare and thought I saw one scuttled down off the end of the bed!   Have absolutely taken the place apart and moved every single item in the property— nothing. Probably my imagination (the stress getting to me at last!), but if not, have sprayed everywhere and any existing unwelcome guests should find things highly uncomfortable. Will definitely feel better when I know all holes are 100% plugged, though!

It probably flew off and is hiding in the ruffle of the curtain or some other equally dark spot. It'll be back later when it's dark.

No sign of anything last night or today, so I think I either imagined it, or he met his Waterloo through my efforts yesterday. We have very minimal furniture and almost everything in the place is white, so it's very easy to spot any unwanted visitors! 

There is a definite uptick in all insect activity since the beginning of the month, though: have seen a couple of spiders, and we cannot cook with an open window without pegging the curtain to the frame, otherwise we are absolutely besieged by flies of all shapes and sizes. Suppose that's related to the warmer Weather?

I thought I might add my experience to the face mask debate.
Last Tuesday, I went to the farmacia in Caleta (the one near the Barcello) and was told they could not sell me a face mask as I am not registered for an NIE.  I am a tourist!  They would not accept my UK driving license as I.D.  They will sell only to bona fide Residents.   I explained I was a tourist awaiting repatriation,  but no joy.  Left a bit of a sour taste that lives of tourist don't count.  I ended up making one from a hotel pillowcase (needs must) with a kitchen paper towel filter......

Based on my experience this morning, masks are now available WITHOUT AN NIE in limited quantity from the pharmacy beside the Barcello in Caleta. There is a maximum of 4 purchasable in a week (I said I was buying for two people; I don't know if that helps). She said I could come back in six days and buy four more. I wasn't asked for an NIE, and I didn't offer one— perhaps if I had, I could have bought more. I did go in and try with my Spanish, so I don't know if that helped, but I think it's more likely they have just relaxed the rules. (However, we also often pick up items from there, so she might recognise me as a long-term visitor even if not specifically a resident.)

The four masks cost me €3.60. Hope that helps!

Mercadona have advertised that they are selling masks on Thursday 14th May. I think it was single use face masks, 10 masks for 6 euros.

Just done the now almost fortnightly shop at Mercadona & Lidl, Lidl very quiet, Mercadona busier.

Garda Civil outside Mercadona having words with and turning back the second person if a couple tried to go in together.

They now have 3 sanitization stations along the wall as you go in to Mercadona with a security guard directing you to which one to use.
