This weekend is one of the biggest event times on Fuerteventura.
Saturday 12 October is Spanish National Day and is a public holiday.
In Caleta de Fuste it is the Fiesta of Nuestra Señora de Peña del Mar on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In Corralejo it is the Open Water swim from Los Lobos to Corralejo on Saturday, and on Sunday the round Lobos swim.
In El Cotillo it is Cotilleando, a music, art, dance etc festival on Saturday and Sunday.
In Antigua/Betancuria on Saturday is the 16 km Betagua Trail Race.
In Gran Tarajal, on Saturday at midday there is the reinactment of the British pirates arriving on the beach, followed by a procession.
In Tuineje on Saturday it is the Romeria of San Miguel from 5.30pm - the biggest local Romeria on the island.
In Tuineje on Sunday at 11.30 is the reinactment of the Battle of Tamasite, when the local farmers beat the British pirates in 1740.
