The plane, with the logo of a company based at the Casarrubios del Monte aerodrome (Toledo), had already landed on other occasions in the Canary Islands, but on this occasion, it aroused the suspicions of the security forces present at the Majorero airport when it he lost contact with the crew and it was found that no one was answering for that device.

The plane was registered between Wednesday, March 27 and Thursday, March 28 in a joint operation of the Civil Guard and the Police, supervised by the Guard Court in Puerto del Rosario, at which time the 400 kilos of cocaine were discovered.

From the beginning, the Civil Guard focused on Lanzarote the search for the occupants of the plane and in fact, one of them was arrested a few days later, in April 2019, on the island of Lanzarote. In fact, and according to La Provincia, David Amar, his co-pilot Manuel López and his mechanic Pablo María Lana initially fled to Lanzarote, aboard one of the ferries that connects this island with Fuerteventura, and hid in a "room of tools" until the mechanic was identified on April 6, in Puerto del Carmen.
