But one is on a Sunday Can
As we have already had 14 public holidays on weekdays, the one on Sunday cannot be taken in lieu on Monday 9th

However, the teachers have made the 9th the Day of the Student so they get a long weekend as schools will be closed

Is it as simple as that? I have long suspected that here they make everything up as they go along, but surely that cannot be right?
And anyway should it not be called The Day of No Students?

The Day of the Student is usually chosen as the 7th
December - the day between the two holidays of the 6th and 8th
December.
It is agreed at the start of the school year - I've been in a staffroom when it is agreed.
A lot of teachers and children use this holiday to visit their family and friends prior to Christmas.
