Edit Reason: Maybe this could be reposted in the paperwork section?
)
Has anyone had the experience of changing the name on deeds from two people to just one of them?
If so what cost was it & what time scale did it take to complete the process?
Also looking for a solicitor in the North of the Island who people have used & can recommend.

I did look into this a few years ago and was quoted €6,500. It was cheaper to pay a hit man.
As for a solicitor. I always found Beatriz Martinez based in Puerto to be one of the best. She always done it for me. What a dame.

Always very busy, but a consequence of being so good. Speaks perfect English. Park in Las Rotundas and walk over to her office. Very handy fir the notary.
I'm sure she will give you an indication of costs.
Tom.

Third rec for Beatriz— she has always done our business and we've always found her helpful, professional, and intelligent.
Not everyone in the office speaks fluent English, but she certainly does, and everyone there is very kind and friendly!

Risky decision!!! Do you want quality of service or convenience. Unfortunately, they are not compatible.

I once had dealings with Jacobo many years ago. He was working closely with an Estate Agent in Corralejo called Jan Christensen who recommended Jacobo. Jans estate agency was called Eurostar or something like that. He was advertising an apartment in a small complex in El Cotillo that I wanted to buy. I put down a deposit and an opcion de compra was drawen up. 8 weeks later and after paying nearly €800 to Jacobo in legal costs he informed me the property was subject to the coastal law and although I could proceed with the purchase I would not be able to register the property in the Registro. I obviously dropped out but he kept the €800 and the deposit was never returned.
The estate agent continued to advertise the property with no mention of the coastal law issue.
I wouldn’t recommend Jacabo due to the fact that he was working with a suspect estate agent. I also wondered why it took Jacobo 8 weeks to notify me of something I thought he should have discovered much sooner. Lesson learned, I later found Beatriz in PDR for a different purchase and never looked back.
