Damage in El Cotillo

Radio Sintonia:

The paleontological site of Rincón de los Morteros, victim of a new attack on heritage.

The expert in palaeontology, Esther Martín González, has denounced a new attack against the palaeontological heritage of Fuerteventura.
Through his social networks, he explained that on the morning of last Sunday, February 25, on a route through the paleontological site of Rincón de los Morteros, south of El Cotillo, together with members of the Heritage Association "El Efequén", they detected what he described as "a new attack against the paleontological heritage of Fuerteventura". Someone, suspected of being an unauthorized tenant of the beach, has dug two trenches and placed a chemical toilet in one of them. The trash bags next to it should contain fecal remains. "There is little more we can add," says the PhD in Biology and curator of Geology and Palaeontology at the Museum of Natural Sciences of Tenerife.
