Walking through the bowels of the volcano!
#1
Radio Sintonia:

There are 4 editions of Geolodía that the island of Fuerteventura will have under its belt with the celebration, on May 8, of Geolodía Fuerteventura 2022. The itinerary will take place in the Vega Circular Complex of Río Palmas. There will be a walking tour called 'Walking through the bowels of the volcano', about 6 kilometers, along Vega Río Palmas, ending the excursion in the middle of the afternoon.

Along the way you can see the plutonic rocks that formed the magmatic chambers that fed a large stratovolcano that existed in this area of the Island about 19 million years ago.
The places of this activity will be limited. Registration will remain open until May 3 or until the quota of places is completed. To participate in the excursion it is necessary to register on the following page WEB: http://www.cabildofuer.es/cabildo/areas-tematicas/medio-ambiente/.
The motto of Geolodía 22 is 'Look what you step on', since the objective of the day is to show that what we have under our feet conditions our lives.
Geolodía 22 is coordinated by the Geological Society of Spain (SGE) and has the collaboration of the Spanish Association for the Teaching of Earth Sciences (AEPECT), as well as the Geological and Mining Institute of Spain (IGME), Repsol and the International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS). In the case of Geolodía Fuerteventura 2022, there is the collaboration of the Ministry of Environmental Sustainability of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, directed by Lola García, the Department of Animal Biology, Edaphology and Geology of the University of La Laguna and the Cultural Chair "Telesforo Bravo" of the University of La Laguna.
