Weighing Airline passengers
#1
With the recent incident on a flight from Arecife to Liverpool where they had to offload 20 passengers to be able to take off. You have to say that the weighing of passengers is only a matter of time away.
With a over quarter of Brits classified as obese and nearly 50% significantly overweight I think it’s only fair that anyone weighing more than 100kg or anyone with a BMI of 30+ should have to pay for 2 seats.
Obviously, if someone has a medical condition to cause their obesity then they should be exempt but let’s face it, most overweight people are just greedy. Greedy people should pay a supplement.

This is a very touchy subject.
I believe that some inter island flights in the pacific already charge by weight, also I think air new Zealand tried it briefly.
After all in reality we are just "cargo" being transported.

I was weighed together with my luggage for several scheduled flights on a DC3 from Norwich to Paris in around 1970. They also told me where to sit to balance the plane.

Weighting passengers with their luggage is the fairest way, IMHO. Not selling tickets & luggage packages as separate products.
