The wind abated in Tindaya around 6pm thank goodness. I've been researching the phenomena and it seems to be something like this:
Winds that blow down the lee side of mountains are called "downslope winds." They not only carry low relative humidity but also rush down at extremely strong speeds and can bring temperatures more than 50 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the surrounding air. "Katabatic winds" like the Santa Ana Winds in Southern California are an example of such winds; these are infamous for the hot, dry Weather they bring in autumn and for fanning regional wildfires. "Foehns" and "chinooks" are other examples of these warming downslope winds.

Good morning from Caleta, by 8pm last evening there was no movement in the palms trees around our property.
This morning at 7.40am as the sun was rising it was a very chilly 12C, scattered high thin cloud and hardly a breath of wind and strangely there is no condensation.
Today's Caleta forecast -
A mix of cloud and sun, no rain forecast, shade temperature to get up to 23C at 2pm with the UV factor reaching 4 at midday, humidity to average only 44% today, cloud ceiling 9100mts, air quality fair and visibility 16Km+
Wind from the W this morning at 11 to 19Kmph with gusts up to 28Kmph moving anticlockwise to come from the SE / ESE this afternoon at similar speeds to the morning. As Tamara has indicated in the Christmas Weather post this afternoon wind direction is likely to bring dust with it.

Whereas in Tindaya we didn't go lower than 19C overnight and the gales are back, from the East.

S/E Gale finally subsided around 5pm. We then had a very light breeze from the West, very pleasant around teatime/sunset.
Had been to El Matorral during the morning where it was hot with just a breath of air - the wind completely changed in the area of La Matilla both going and coming back.

Good morning from Caleta on what in the Northern Hemisphere is commonly known as the shortest day or to be correct the day with the least daylight hours as all days have 24hours. Yesterday IMO was better than forecast as what cloud there was, was high and thin so the sun was warm all day.
This morning at 7.40am 17C the sun is rising, a few scattered clouds to the west and yet again hardly a breath of wind.
Today's Caleta forecast -
A sunny day with the shade temperature reaching 23C at 1pm with the UV factor getting up to 4 at midday, humidity to average 61% today, cloud ceiling 9100mts, air quality fair and visibility 16Km+
Wind from the E this morning at 20 to 28Kmph with gusts up to 37Kmph moving to come from the ENE / NE this afternoon and early evening at 26 to 28Kmph with gusts up to 33Kmph.
Sunrise, sunset & tide times.
