Thanks Tardis, they didn't come up on my searches, I think I was being too specific. I'll go down there during the week.

Good selection of motorbikes and scooters, and quads, but they no longer do buggies and couldn't suggest anywhere else on the island. I've found one online in Gran Canaria, nearly new, that I'm investigating. Might have to hop over there and bring it back on the ferry.

Tamara. It depends how long you can wait? I would have thought dozens will be coming up for sale, as the new ordinance forces the Buggy Tour co's to switch to electric.
I can't recall the timescales.

Good thought Archer but I don't think I'd want one that had been used as a tour vehicle. Bit like buying a second hand hire car out here!

Did a Binter trip to Gran Canaria today and bought my new buggy (private seller)! Going back in a couple of weeks to collect it and bring it back on the overnight Armas ferry. Managed to get in lunch and a browse in the IKEA there while I was at it. Great day out! 36€ return on Binter and that wasn't the cheapest, just the times that worked best for me.

I bought in GC because I couldn't find what I wanted here - no other reason. As for cars I'm afraid I have no idea re prices being any better. It does get a bit involved, especially for a buggy that needs an ITV before it can go on the public road: next trip involves flying to GC, taxi to buggy location, grua to Las Palmas port, overnight ferry with cabin for me, grua from Puerto to ITV or home ……... The air tickets are very cheap I think, but they do add on the airport taxes after the quoted prices and resident's discounts so not quite as good as at first glance. You do get 20kg checked baggage allowance on the Flexi fare which normally costs about 4€ more than the standard - I like the Flexi because 'as it says on the tin', I can easily change date/time if circumstances change, on this occasion extending my time over there so I could get to IKEA! Oh, and you get a free meal on Binter: I took loads of pics through the aircraft window which I am gradually getting uploaded - when I'm done I'll stick them in a Gallery.

Project complete! Flew over on Thursday and brought it back on the overnight ferry. Docked in Puerto at 6am. Faced a few challenges and nervous moments, such as reversing off the grua at Las Palmas docks with a load of Port staff all watching with interest! Driving on to the ferry at 12.45am was also a challenge as I struggled to find the light switch in the pitch dark dockside parking area. Got off in Puerto OK at 6am and then had to drive it up on another grua, again watched by the port guys - all seemed to find it fascinating that a lady in her 60s was driving a buggy! My FV grua driver took me and the friend who had come with me to a local bar in Puerto to pass the time until ITV opened. Yet 2 more coffees and only a couple of hours sleep meant we were wired! Reversing off again at ITV was interesting on a caffeine high but the guys outside the local business opposite cheered as I shot off the grua . ITV OK, phew, so I set off for home using route from Las Honduras (PDR) through Caldereta and La Oliva and then broke down on FV10 about 0.5km from Tindaya turning! Rescued by friends and local mechanic who sourced a new part the same day, all repaired and at my house my teatime. Feel great deal of satisfaction that I accomplished all the organising, bookings, practical challenges on the days/night etc with my limited Spanish and a lot of smiles and laughter. Great adventure! Fares were good value: FV/GC 2 flights on Binter, residents, 27€ total. 2 people on Armas ferry, residents, plus cabin, plus buggy, 37€ total.
