The majorera Rebeca Persson-Alberto is proclaimed champion in the Korean martial art Tang Soo Do.
Rebeca Persson-Alberto has been proclaimed World Champion before an outstanding participation in Nottingham, last weekend. The majorera brought to Fuerteventura, to Caleta de Fuste and to her school, the Gold Medal in combat and Kata Tanganazos Son Do.

"It is the first majorera to achieve the highest position in the practice of traditional Korean martial art, Tang Soo Do," says Mayor Matias Peña. "But she is also a clear representative of the coexistence and development of the tourist town of Caleta de Fuste, being born in Fuerteventura, and her parents, Meco and Elena, owners of the O'Fado restaurant, of Portuguese and Swedish nationalities, respectively, and who have always demonstrated their commitment to the town, offering a quality service and a highly valued personal warmth", points out the mayor.
Tang Soo Do's school is sponsored by the City of Antigua from the Department of Tourism directed by Deborah Edgington, fond of attending their competitions. There is no better ambassador of Caleta de Fuste or better sponsor, than the resident athletes themselves, says Edgington who adds, both for what they demonstrate in their sports practice and for the enthusiasm with which they talk about their locality.
Caleta de Fuste and the Municipality of Antigua houses a new world champion, young and with all the future ahead, in traditional Korean art, in any other sport you choose or in any personal path you decide, says the Councilor for Sports, Fernando Estupiñán, discipline, tenacity and drive in the face of adversity, are characteristic that has already acquired, so serve as an example for all, Rebeca Persson-Alberto and concludes the councilor, congratulations to her, her family and school team.
