419,214 passengers (Arrivals & Departures) passed through the airport in January 2020. That is a 5.4% decrease compared to January 2019. The number of flights, 3635, was down 9.3%.

Lanzarote had a drop of 7.1% and Tenerife South 6.8% in the same month.

The Carnival will be celebrated in Betancuria on the 14 and 15 March 2020. The theme is Publicity.

They have a street parade on Sunday 15 March at 11.30.  It's the smallest Carnival on the island, but worth going to if you are visiting that part of the island.

Hi everyone,
I really hope everyone reading this is safe and well. We are yearly regulars to the island and heard on the grapevine that the Spanish government held a meeting last week looking to cancel all visits to fuerteventura and Lanzarote for 2020. We are due to travel to Caleta mid July so our holiday will more than likely be cancelled anyway but it’s slightly concerning how the island can survive with no travel throughout 2020. Thoughts?

Canarian Day is celebrated on 30th May. It's a public holiday.


Usually there are traditional all-night dances in the larger villages and towns of the island on the 29th May, but not this year. 
Local councils are doing the celebration on-line this year.
