Internet down in the whole north - emergency offer inside
This morning I was awakened by my frantic wife who couldn't join an important meeting. The internet wasn't working.
After going up the road to the local Movistar point I could see that it wasn't just me.
I called a few contacts, many people are offline.
First action: Go and Get Cash
Most card machines and cash machines use the most common local internet provider to do all their processing. If the internet is down so are they.
I went to Corralejo and almost all cash machines were out of servi

Connectivity in Parque Holandes
Hi,
Our original plans changed and we are now purchasing a villa in the sleepy hollow that is Parque Holandes.
Does anyone know what the options are for Internet connectivity?
I don't suppose fibre has made it that far but what about ADSL, does anyone have this in Parque Holandes and what kind of speeds/reliability are you getting?
Any recommendations on a supplier?
Thanks in advance.

Internet connection providers
In five weeks we will finally move to Fuerteventura, La Asomada (I dread the journey on the ferry). I was wondering whether somebody could provide me with some fresh feedback about Internet connection in that area or about their own experiences. I flicked through this and the old forum and the alternatives seemed to be Fuerte WIFI (but they seem not to cover La Asomada), Movistar (but from what I gathered they may be the most expensive option, with prices creeping up at regular intervals), [url=

Just got fibre broadband! [Playa Blanca]
So far I haven't been willing to take out a lengthy (I assumed) expensive monthly contract for what I thought would be mediocre internet, especially when we don't live here permanently. So we've been relying on mobile data using a 4G router for our home internet needs. Those needs recently changed dramatically though with two kids home schooling and two people working full-time with lots of online meetings. Tethering on three different sim cards to try ensure sufficient bandwidth becomes qu

Neighbour refusing to let movistar attach my cable
[color=#050505]Neighbour refused to let internet installers access the "CTO" box to add my cable to the existing national infrastructure. The new cable will follow existing cables. There will be no new infrastructure or changes. Just plug it to the box that is there.
The engineers (contractors) have told my ISP, the install is not possible because the neighbour refuses. Movistar have closed the case.
But I discover these laws allow my cable to access their property.

Cheap pay as you go internet without need for permanent line
Just an option if you haven't considered it before
I use my phone as a 4G hotspot with a Spanish sim which on a 6 year old Xperia gives me 3 meg download, with you tube turned down to 360 kps it's a good picture which is fine for me, not to mention emails, watts app and surfing
Though often some think using your phone means you have to surf on your phone but using the hotspot on the phone you can log onto it with pc, laptop or anything else
After digging I'm thinking of swapping to a pay as

The old chestnut of internet supplier
OK, so with live in Triquivijate and currently use NetServices for Internet (and mobile phone). Whilst the speed is generally acceptable the phone coverage is not that reliable - missed calls even though it is sitting next to us on the desk and never rang.
We were hoping that Avatel would be bringing fibre here and they said that if the got 100 names they would look at it. However a friend went in for an update recently and they said MAYBE 1 or 2 years.
We don't have a landline (few places in

Triquivijate internet options?
Curious to what options are available up there!
Is there a choice of providers, and what are the speeds like? Would it be possible to live there as an extremely heavy internet user who needs 20mbps+ speed and doesn't want to rely on mobile phone stuff with download restrictions, etc.?
