111 people were rescued in a single day on their way to Fuerteventura
Two boats were helped when they were sailing towards the island.
Maritime Rescue rescued two boats heading for Fuerteventura on Saturday, with a total of 111 people on board.
This has been confirmed by the Emergency and Security Coordination Center 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands, which points out that another 56 people were rescued in El Hierro.
At 4:15 p.m. on Saturday, the Emergency services were activated to provide humanitarian attention at the Gran Tarajal dock.
The Red Cross confirmed that three transfers were made to health centers for different pathologies.
The occupants of the two boats were of both sub-Saharan and Maghreb origin.
The Civil Guard reported at 3:50 p.m. an echo from the SIVE radar sailing 10 nautical miles (about 16 kilometers) from the lighthouse of La Entallada, in the east of the island. The Rescue Coordination Center of Las Palmas mobilized the Salvamar Mizar, which approached the place and located the boat.
From it, he rescued 54 people who were on board, including three women and a minor.
