Six of the detainees are already in provisional detention after a Police operation in which homes were searched in Gran Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
The National Police and the Civil Guard of Las Palmas have arrested 9 people for the commission of a crime against public health in the form of drug trafficking. They have Spanish and Nigerian nationalities and several have a record for these same crimes. They introduced significant quantities of drugs between the islands of the province. Even from another country through "mules" or human couriers inside their body or suitcases.
The Police collaboration during this investigation showed that those under investigation would be introducing large quantities of cocaine and heroin. As well as other cutting substances that were intervened through "mules" or human couriers. They carry them both inside the body and in suitcases and backpacks with double bottoms, in order to make it difficult for the Police to detect.
In the course of the operation, three people have been arrested trying to transport significant quantities of the aforementioned drug between the islands of the province. Even from another country.
Criminal network
This investigation shed light on a criminal network that had human couriers who transported the drugs between the islands of the province, which in turn came from other countries. The analysis and investigations carried out would lead the investigators to locate the places where the drugs were hidden and others of interest to the investigation.
Registrations in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura
10 searches were carried out in different homes in Gran Canaria, Lanzarote and Fuerteventura. A total of 7.5 kg of heroin has been seized from the results of the searches carried out jointly in conjunction with the apprehensions carried out during the investigation. 29 kg of cocaine, 100 grams of hashish, 20 grams of methamphetamine and 1.5 kg of cutting substance to adulterate the different drugs.
In addition, more than 70,000 euros in cash foreseeably derived from drug trafficking were seized, as well as 4 vehicles and 14 mobile devices.
The investigation was carried out by the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of the Organic Unit of the Judicial Police (UOPJ) of the Civil Guard of Las Palmas. Togetherwith the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit (UDYCO) of the National Police of Las Palmas. It began at the beginning of 2023 and has been coordinated by the Court of Instruction No. 3 of Las Palmas. 6 of the detainees have been ordered to be placed in pre-trial detention.
