Radio Sintonia:
The Canary Islands will have a decree law on urgent measures in the field of housing in February.
The Minister of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands, Pablo Rodríguez, has said that his department will submit to the Governing Council for approval, during the month of February, the decree law on urgent measures in the field of Housing.
This is an ambitious initiative, which aims to implement a set of instruments in order to make more properties available on the market, and facilitate the construction of subsidized housing from the public and private spheres
This decree includes, on the one hand, instruments that will increase the availability of land for housing, one of the main problems that the Archipelago is experiencing; and, on the other hand, a package of measures to increase the availability of buildings to put housing on the market, since there are currently large holders who have more than 1,400 unfinished properties, linked to the financial crisis of 2008.
It will also be committed to simplifying and speeding up procedures, declaring the general interest and urgency in the construction of public housing, as well as facilitating the transfer of land by local administrations to the Autonomous Community.
Likewise, the decree incorporates the updating of the Canary Islands Basic Module, which has remained immobile since 2003, and which generates an element of brake on public-private collaboration and the bidding of projects, since the increase in construction costs must be considered.
