The Civil Guard of the Tax and Borders Section of Fuerteventura airport in collaboration with the Tax Agency, arrested on June 29 a 43-year-old man, who has numerous records in different airports and ports in Spain for a continuous crime of theft for stealing packages of tobacco bite inside airport establishments.
The Civil Guard was aware following a complaint filed by the representative of a business of the airport, that from May 18 to June 28 they stole on four occasions packages of tobacco bite worth 2,918.50 euros.
The Fiscal and Border Section of Fuerteventura airport carried out the appropriate Police investigations and the various steps to clarify the Events that occurred, including the analysis of frames of facilities and registration of the lists of flights that frequently traveled.
Identification and arrest of the author
As a result of an extensive investigation work of the Civil Guard, on June 29 it was confirmed that one of the suspects flies to Fuerteventura from the airport of Gran Canaria, so a surveillance device is mounted ensuring the safety of airport users, in order to arrest the author of the illicit acts.
Upon arrival of the suspect at this airport, he is arrested for a continuous crime of theft, and among his belongings is a package of tobacco bite and two cartons of tobacco, possibly stolen at the airport of origin, due to his restless attitude to the questions asked, not carrying an invoice as proof of having made said purchase at the previous airport, not being able to explain its origin.
The detainee and the proceedings are placed at the disposal of the Court of Instruction No. 5 of Puerto del Rosario (Las Palmas de Gran Canaria).
