The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura arrested an adult woman on January 28, as the alleged perpetrator of three crimes of theft and a crime of robbery with force in hotels in Caleta de Fuste, in the municipality of Antigua. The Events occurred at night for several days last January, with one of them starting in November.
The author, who knows the hotel complexes and is fluent in five languages, had worked in one of them in the past. Their modus operandi consisted of entering hotels and rooms, seizing Money from boxes and tips from staff, as well as sports equipment and personal belongings. Then, he published ads on social networks to sell the stolen objects, some of which were recovered.
Once the corresponding complaints were filed, the images of the security cameras provided by those affected were viewed, in addition to interviews with hotel managers and employees, which was key to clarifying the facts. After analyzing the images, the identity of the author was determined, she had a record of crimes against property.
For this reason, the Police officers set up an operational device and located the suspect in a bungalow of a hotel complex, illegally occupied near the places of the crimes. The woman was arrested, and although the investigation is still open, the clarification of new crimes or additional arrests is not ruled out due to the number of criminal acts reported in the area.
The detainee, together with the proceedings instructed, are made available to the Court in Guard Functions, in the town of Puerto del Rosario.
With the resolution of this case, the Civil Guard contributes to restoring confidence and tranquility to the residents and visitors of the island of Fuerteventura, ensuring that the municipality of Antigua continues to be a safe and welcoming place for all.
