The Guard has arrested a 30-year-old man as the alleged perpetrator of a robbery committed on August 30 in a hotel complex in Caleta de Fuste, in the municipality of Antigua, as reported this Saturday by the armed institute.
The robbery took place between 12:15 and 13:15 hours, when the suspect accessed a room on the second floor of the hotel after climbing a perimeter wall and using an air conditioning unit to reach a balcony located about 3.5 meters high. Taking advantage of the fact that the window was open, he entered the room and stole personal belongings valued at approximately 3,500 euros.
Among the stolen items were a high-end titanium watch, two gold rings - one of them encrusted with diamonds valued at 1,500 euros - clothes and electronic devices such as AirPods Pro headphones with an identified serial number.
After the complaint, the Civil Guard carried out an ocular inspection and focused the investigation on tracking the digital trail of the stolen devices. Around 5:00 p.m. on the same day, the agents located part of the stolen material in a home in Puerto del Rosario, which had been acquired by its inhabitants. This action made it possible to identify and locate the alleged perpetrator of the robbery.
The suspect was intercepted at 6:30 p.m. on San Roque Street in Puerto del Rosario, when he was carrying several of the stolen objects, including the titanium watch, gold rings and clothing, which were recognized by the victim.
The Civil Guard located most of the stolen material and recalls that buying objects of dubious origin can constitute a crime of reception
During the operation, other effects were also recovered, such as a backpack and the keys to the victim's home and vehicle, found in a field near the hotel complex. According to the Civil Guard, with these actions it was possible to recover practically all the stolen goods.
The detainee was placed at the disposal of the Guard Court of Puerto del Rosario on September 1. After a speedy trial, he was convicted of a crime of robbery with escalation and was later released.
The Civil Guard has recalled that the purchase of objects of dubious origin can constitute a crime of reception and has urged citizens not to acquire products outside the legal market.
