British tourist dies following unprovoked attack in Caleta de Fuste

In a tragic turn of Events, a British tourist named Marshall Latham has died from injuries sustained during an attack in Caleta de Fuste. The incident, involving another British holidaymaker, left him in a coma since last December.
Latham was a frequent visitor to Fuerteventura and was spending Christmas on the island with his sister. According to his brother-in-law, Jim Casey, he was walking home after a night out when he was suddenly attacked near a taxi rank.
Witnesses have reported that the incident was entirely unprovoked, with no prior interaction between Latham and the man who attacked him. The suspect was apprehended by Police while attempting to board a flight to Glasgow the following day.
After being transferred from Gran Canaria back to the UK, Latham, a 68-year-old retired carpenter from Nantwich, succumbed to his injuries at the Walton Centre in Aintree Hospital.
The case is now under investigation for potential homicide. Latham's family has called for the current assault investigation to be paused to allow more comprehensive inquiries, as Police consider criminal charges. A coroner's review is scheduled for the 15th of August to further examine the circumstances surrounding his death.
Cheshire area coroner, Victoria Davies, said, "Given the circumstances, this qualifies as an unnatural death, warranting a full investigation into Mr Marshall Latham's passing."
