Hey folks,
Quick question - what are the rules surrounding burning garden was and mini bonfires? Just that someone across the road in an empty house has started burning weeds etc.
I have posted out to them that there is a Punto Limpio in the village!
TIA.
To the best of my knowledge the only occasion that you can have a bonfire is on San Juan, coming up shortly, 23rd
June I believe. If you live in La Oliva district, ie most of the island above Puerto del Rosario, there are various rules regarding even fires on that date. You have to inform the fire brigade in advance, restrictions on size/height of fire, water supply easily available/on standby ...... This may be the case in other areas as well, I'm only aware of the La Oliva rules.
The best solution for weed disposal is to make friends with a goat farmer! They happily take the weeds for their animals.

Thanks Tamara I thought it was something like that!
I guess to be fair they were burning it in a large metal container rather than just a pile of weeds. It was the smoke that annoyed me. Lovely day, Sunday afternoon and I wanted to have lunch outside!

One of my neighbour makes bonfires, usually small ones, whenever he wants to (I live in one of PdR's pueblos). He's gathered lots of stuff for the 23rd. I just hope it's going to be a day with some wind otherwise the smoke will stay in the air forever

, it wouldn't be very healthy.
