After the signing, Lloret wanted to thank cooperation that has been at all times from the Security and Emergency services, the primary sector and Property Management, by the Insular Institution, as well as the Government of the Canary Islands and the public company, is currently in liquidation, which have made it possible to carry out as soon as possible.
According to the reports that have worked with the acquisition of the Finca de Las Cerquitas, which is part of the liquidation of the public company Gestión Urbanística Las Palmas SA (GESTUR), the acquired space has a total area of almost 16 thousand square meters and is located in the Las Cerquitas Industrial Estate, in the municipality of Antigua. A space of developable land that has access to all electricity and water supply services.
A new fire station
In this way, and as stated in the file approved by the Island Government Council on December 21, 2022, the space is considered "an opportunity" in economic terms, with respect to the acquisition costs of other spaces of similar characteristics, and opens allows the Island Council to respond either to the need to locate a new Fire Station, capable of providing the necessary services for citizens in optimal conditions of response to incidents, such as relocating the current Insular Slaughterhouse of Fuerteventura in a location of adequate dimensions and with the necessary conditions for the important work carried out for the primary sector of the island.
The current Insular Slaughterhouse, built in 1991 to serve all the cattle farmers on the island, has gone from a production of 200 to 900 tons of meat per year, the latter being a figure still insufficient with respect to the island's production needs. The service infrastructure is located in a space of about 5,000 square meters that should be expanded to at least 10,15 or <>,<> square meters.
In this way, the Finca de Las Cerquitas, due to its size, its central location on the island, the availability of supplies and its proximity to an Environmental Complex for the waste deposit, is presented as one of the ideal locations to relocate this key facility to meet the needs of the primary sector.
For its part, the Insular Security and Emergency Service has also recorded the relevance of the use of these lands acquired by the Cabildo in order to locate in them a new Fire Station with capacity to cover the municipalities of Tuineje, Antigua and Betancuria in optimal conditions and with response ratios appropriate to the needs of the area, according to the fact that currently the only existing Insular Fire Station is located in the area of El Cuchillete.
