We booked a ferry crossing for car and 4 passengers. On arrival at the ticket office we presented email confirmation of the booking, Empadron, travel certificate and TIE's.
She didn't question it, but TIE's were absolutely brand new then. When we checked into our hotel in Costa Teguise, the receptionist had never seen one before!
Suspect things might have changed since. Hopefully i might be going back over to Lanzarote in about a month, depending on the Covid situation. I will update this thread if and when I go.
I think you might be right, my travel cert expires in
June but they have changed the process now (at least for me). I tried to get request a new certificate but it was rejected due to not meeting the requirements.

I also applied for mine on line and received the note about not being eligible
So presumably there is joined up writing in the system.
I thought that we should still be eligible under the withdrawal agreement as that was supposed to protect our existing rights !

Possibly interesting:-
A Belgium colleague ,living here with own Business etc for 20 years plus, Spanish wife and family.
The family applied for viaje they got theirs, BUT he got the same e mail as us. he possibly did not the requirements!!
He is obviously fluent in Spanish and followed it up.
He was told that La Oliva have removed ALL non Spaniards from the Data base but he can attend in person with original green paper,NIE and passport and Belgium ID card and he should get a viaje.
He kindly asked them about my situation and apparently I will be eligible 5 years after obtaining my green card, ignore date on TIE.
BUT the rules might change!!!!

Certificado de viaje now being issued in La Oliva
Only question is "are you resident" if yes please can we see your TIE. Ours are temps!! but changeable soon.
I THINK they then check how long have you been registered on the Padron, if more than 5 years then a viaje is issued.
I forgot to ask if in the future we could obtain one on line as in the past.

Thanks for the update Dave!
I was never taken off the Sara Database, so mine has remained valid (even though I didn't know)
I took some trips this year with the discount.
Next time im at the Ayunto ill ask them if I qualify by their books.

I didn't have any joy online last month when I needed one, but I picked one up from the Ayuntamiento. (For some reason Armas didn't recoginise us when doing an online booking and said we needed to take Viaje cert with us. The previous month I had no problem with Armas or Binter! And a booking last night went thru ok!!) When we got to the dock the guy who was checking the cars in just ran my TIE card through his machine, said Residente, and that was that! It's really annoying that I can produce a Padron Cert online and a History of Padron cert, but not the Viaje even though the option shows on the same page.

5 years on the Padron does not seem to be a prerequisite as an acquaintance has managed to get one and he only moved here 4 years ago.
he was asked for his TIE and his passsport.
Ref getting one on line.I recently changed some direct debits and when I checked on line the new details were not showing.
I waited a few days and hey presto all done.
I think I will wait until after the 6th jan and then have a play on line, as Tamara says the viaje and padron are in the same section so you should be able to get either

Hi
I received my updated 'certificado de viajes' yesterday. I'm not a permanent resident yet, but it seems the 'long term' card means a card valid for 5 years as all TIEs are. If you have a TIE under the WA then your rights are fully protected and you're eligible for a 'certificate de viajes' as long as you're on the padron. As is not uncommon in Spain, some businesses are confusing 'permanent resident' with 'long term resident'.
Best

Sorry to digress a little from Viajes but it is worth noting that the Withdrawal Agreement really does offer a modicum of "protection" for those who haven't gained their permanante residencia, and is worth checking out if you have niggling doubts about all sorts of "facts" that are bandied around.

Also received in normal mail stuff confirming my right to vote in municipal election.
