Courts suffering from water cuts as well!

Radio Sintonia:

Without running water for days in the judicial headquarters of Majada Marcial.

The Federation of Services to the Citizenship of Comisiones Obreras Canarias demanded this Friday to the General Directorate of Relations with the Administration of Justice of the Government of the Canary Islands to replace as soon as possible the water supply in the judicial headquarters of Majada Marcial in the majorera town of Puerto del Rosario, under penalty of raising the case before the Labor Inspectorate.

The union points out that, for some time, a series of water supply cuts have been taking place in the judicial headquarters of Majada Martial, which are causing multiple inconveniences to the workers who provide their services in said headquarters, as well as to the citizens and professionals of the justice who have to travel to this building.

Since last August 29 and until today, the problem has worsened, because the building does not have running water, which is causing multiple problems in the normal functioning of the public service, in the health and habitability that must be met in any workplace.

For greater abundance, in the rest of the city, as well as in the other judicial headquarters of Puerto del Rosario, the water supply was restored the day after the aforementioned incident, unlike the Courts of Majada Marcial that has seen the problem with running water accentuated.

As established by Annex V of Royal Decree 486/1997, of April 14, which establishes the minimum safety and health requirements in workplaces, they will have toilets, equipped with toilets, located in the vicinity of workstations, rest rooms, changing rooms and toilet rooms, when they are not integrated into the latter. In addition, the toilets will have automatic flushing of water and toilet paper. Likewise, taking into account the existing regulations on safety, health and prevention of occupational risks, the union understands that there is a clear and serious violation of the minimum safety and health requirements in the workplace.

Therefore, they request that the problems of water supply of the judicial headquarters of Majada Marcial be solved immediately and that the necessary arrangements be made so that these water cuts, so common do not happen again in a building destined for a public service and in which approximately fifty people work, in addition to the citizens and professionals who come every day to the judicial headquarters.

In the event that the aforementioned problem is not solved as soon as possible, the Labor Inspectorate will be informed, as well as the relevant bodies in the field of safety, health and prevention of occupational risks so that the pertinent safety measures are taken due to the existing risk of unhealthiness in the Courts of Fuerteventura.
