Where is this exactly? I know my way around Tindaya but have not seen donkeys there.

Come through village to Bar Gonzales. The main road bears sharp right there. Instead of following main road around the bend turn left (equivalent of straight on!), not up in front of the bar either! About 100m later lane bends right and immediately left again. They are right there: Calle del Jarugo on this map.

What do you do with your fruit and veg peelings? My compost bin is full at the moment so I take them to the donkeys every couple of days. They recognise my car coming round the corner and know exactly where I stop - they're waiting for me by the time I draw up. Trouble is I feel really guilty if I go past with nothing for them! Not sure what age young donkeys stop suckling, but this one is still enjoying Mum!

This donkey was not so happy
from RadioSintonia: The Zoo and center for the rescue and recovery of species Oasis Wildlife Fuerteventura, is treating a donkey rescued this week by the Local Police of Tuineje after being located in a very poor state of maintenance and health. The animal, found in a situation of abandonment, without food or care, had wounds on the body, weight loss as a result of malnutrition, malformation in its legs and lack of care in its hooves, however, no signs of physical abuse have been registered but if passive, since the animal did not receive the necessary and basic care for its well-being. The agents of the Local Police of Tuineje, after verifying the origin of the animal and its condition, contacted the specialists of Oasis Wildlife, who traveled to the area to carry out the first care, evaluate its health and assess the needs of Attention. Without both interventions, the animal may not have survived.
