After the tender was deserted due to lack of aircraft, the file will be re-tendered before the end of the year
The deputy of the Canarian Nationalist Parliamentary Group (CCa), Mario Cabrera González, intervened in the plenary session of the Parliament of the Canary Islands, to ask about the situation of the file of the third advanced life support helicopter of the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands, based in Fuerteventura, after the tender for the provision of this service was deserted. This lack of aircraft is due to their high demand in the current war context.
The publication of the tender notice was made on July 4, for the contracting of the three life support aircraft and their crew, with an estimated budget of 54 million euros for the four years of execution of the contract. After the deadline for submitting bids without any being submitted, on August 14 the procedure was declared void.
Regretting this situation, the Majorero deputy was concerned about the delay that this will also mean in the improvement of the quality of care in emergency situations in the Canary Islands, "especially for an island like Fuerteventura of long distances", he said.
As Cabrera explained, the arrival of this third medicalized aircraft based in Fuerteventura met a historical demand of the island's population. "An initiative for which we have worked and which has not seen the light of day until these budgets for the year 2024," added the deputy.
In this sense, the parliamentarian thanked the work carried out by the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands to materialize this initiative and celebrated that this budget item is not lost, but that it is given continuity in the year 2025.
For her part, the councillor of the area, Esther Monzón, assured that "the Money is consolidated in the budget". In addition, Monzón advanced that once the consultation procedures have been completed and the new tender costs stipulated, "the specifications will be drawn up again before the end of the year".
