I did look round Mercadona but couldn't see any! Could you give me a clue whereabouts in the store it is...also does it go by another name?

Haloumi in Greek is "Χαλούμι" which translates int Haloumi in both Spanish and English, as you will be aware it originates from Cyprus and has protected name rights in the USA, but not as yet within the EU, but it is unlikely to be called anything elsemy wife spent her teenage years in Cyprus and loves it, and when I asked about something similar or a substitute, I was told in no uncertain terms " there isn,t one, something called Paneer is apparently close but she does not believe that is available on the Island either

You should be able to find it in either I would hope Wink

Totally agree with you Alex it is one of the worse run stores I have ever seen, we were there yesterday, it is usually impossible to shop the place, but for the first time there were no pallets on the shop floor or any of the wire baskets they use to collect cardboard blocking off Ailes.

I think your right John, there has been a notable difference. I imagine opening a new store, just as all your customers are told not to leave the house, is going to be fraught with teething problems.
But it still makes me laugh when they put out a special offer and don't price it, surprise surprise no-one buys it and the stuff just sits there.

The thing that really annoys me is that the only checkout that is always open is the first one, presumably because they thought there was a good long space to queue up, but that forces every new customer to walk almost shoulder to shoulder with the whole checkout queue... moronic! They cold just use the space in front of all the other checkouts as they never open more than 2 or 3....

Called into Lidl today at Puerto and they had a "Greek themed display"!! They had two types of halloumi one with basil and one with chilli. So pleased I called in today!

The shop is a nightmare at the moment, being refitted while open, loads tools and materials laying around on floor and layout completely changed.
