HiperDino will invest 50 million euros in 30 actions between new stores and reforms throughout 2020, after resuming its Strategic Plan scheduled for this year. In addition, it will favour more than 2,500 contracts directly and indirectly.
The CEO of DinoSol Supermarkets, Javier Puga, explains that “the good results of 2019, with an increase of 4% more than the previous year and reaching net sales of 1,048.79 million euros, invite us to be optimistic and to continue on the path in which we have been working ”. He adds that "our expansion plans and the modernization of our physical stores consolidate our leadership in the food distribution sector on the islands."
For his part, the technical director of HiperDino and the person in charge of directing and supervising the actions of store openings and renovations, Rubén Molowny, highlights that “despite the exceptional circumstances we have experienced, the effort, dedication and professionalism of The entire technical team will allow us to have 7 new stores and 23 reforms before the end of the year, meeting the objectives we had set for ourselves.
Of the 30 planned actions, four have to do with the construction of new HiperDino establishments in the towns of San Bartolomé (Lanzarote), Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Gran Canaria), Guamasa (Tenerife) and Arafo (Tenerife), the latter recently inaugurated. In addition, at the end of August a SuperDino brand store will be opened to the public in Morrojable (Fuerteventura) and two others have already been opened in the capital of Gran Canaria.
Leading company in creating jobs
Currently, the chain has almost 8,000 employees between stores, warehouses and central offices and, in 2020, it plans to favor more than 2,500 direct and indirect hires.
In each of the actions, an average of 20 supplier companies work during the different phases and, in some larger works such as the one carried out in the Güímar Industrial Estate, more than 500 people have participated.
News in all sections
The new stores and renovated centres include open spaces and larger and more accessible surfaces.
The optimal distribution and the sale of new references such as organic and dietary products and recently created sections such as the perfumery, winery and gourmet area offer a complete offer to the client.
Other sections that already existed also stand out and have improved their image such as charcuterie, butcher and assisted fishmonger, fruit and vegetables and bakery, among others.
In this context, it should be noted that in recent months, two stores have become online shopping preparation centers, reaching the entire Archipelago through this channel.
Energy saving
HiperDino, committed to caring for and respecting the environment, develops parallel plans related, for example, to efficient lighting and the implementation of refrigeration systems and organization. All this enables greater energy efficiency and contributes to circular energy.
Recently, the chain has reached an agreement with Philips to install 3D luminaires with 100% recyclable polycarbonate material. Using these luminaires has a 47% lower carbon footprint than a conventionally manufactured metal luminaire.
Also and as far as the refrigeration system is concerned, HiperDino uses CO2 as a refrigerant, considered one of the main natural refrigerants today and in the future.
Advancing in other sustainable projects that allow optimizing energy consumption, a temperature control system for refrigerating furniture, lighting, air conditioning and refrigeration has been implemented in 85 stores.
Committed to canaries
HiperDino's commitment to the canaries and residents of the islands is reflected in the best price, assortment, variety and quality of its products, with facilities and services adapted to current times, in addition to the disinterested help it provides through of its foundation.
Fundación DinoSol, created in March 2017 to promote the well-being of HiperDino employees and Canarian families in general, continues to be at the side of those who need it most. For this reason, between March and July alone, it has donated 81 tons of food to social entities.
At the same time, it has launched the Aid Program for Canarian Families, a pioneering initiative that seeks, through solidarity contributions, to contribute to the daily diet of disadvantaged families or those at risk of social exclusion.
In the coming weeks, the Foundation will start the Alimentos conVida project, with the aim of reducing food losses and waste in the chain's stores and, at the same time, encouraging those products that are not marketable but suitable for consumption to reach the social dining rooms of the Archipelago.
