Los Pozos beach to have sunbeds
#1
from Noticias:

The beach of Los Pozos will have a service of sunbeds and umbrellas and chiringuito.
For the first time, the beach of Los Pozos in the capital of Majorera will have a service of sunbeds and umbrellas, as well as a sports area and a gastronomic establishment in the form of a beach bar.
This new service, in the maritime and land public domain, comes to light after obtaining authorization from the Port Authority of Las Palmas, which is why the mayor of the City of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, and the Councilor for Beaches, Tourism and Sports, Sonia Álamo, held a meeting last Thursday with the new delegate of the Port Authority of Las Palmas in Puerto del Rosario, Antonio Manuel Castellano, to thank him for his collaboration in the implementation of this service that will undoubtedly improve the coastline of the municipality and make it more competitive for tourism.

The agreement between the Port Authority of Las Palmas and the City Council of Puerto del Rosario for the management of Los Pozos beach, located between the breakwater that delimits the sports dock and the Los Pozos ravine, was published in BOE number 277 of October 20, 2020.

The concession of the service of hammocks and umbrellas will go out to tender in the coming weeks and the winning company will also have the operation of a kiosk / chiringuito, a stall selling different products and gastronomic items.

Specifically, it is intended to incorporate a sector of hammocks of 360 m² with a maximum number of 50 hammocks with their corresponding umbrella for every two hammocks (25 umbrellas), being the price of the service of hammocks and umbrellas of 3 euros per day.

From November 1 to April 30, both included, the schedule of this service will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and from May 1 to October 31 it will be from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., coinciding with the schedule of the Rescue and Lifeguard service.

To provide this service, the wooden walkway will be extended and the space will be equipped with another walkway that makes one of the sectors accessible to people with reduced mobility.

"With the coming summer," says Mayor Juan Jiménez, "from the City Council of Puerto del Rosario, and thanks to the collaboration of the Port Authority, we began the procedures for the development of the equipment that this beach will offer to tourists who disembark in our city, improving our competitiveness and the services of our coast. In addition, the exploitation of the service of sun loungers and umbrellas will enter economic benefits in the municipal coffers in order to advance in the social and economic recovery, at the same time that it will come to continue generating employment. "

And to launch this service, advances the Councilor for Beaches, Sonia Álamo, "we will begin to act in a first phase with the sanitation of the sand of the beach of Los Pozos, whose works will involve the transfer of all the sand of the beach from the upper area to the shore and vice versa. These tasks will be carried out at night so that the next day the beach can be used by the many users that it incites".

The tender notice will come out in the coming weeks and will be sent to the Official Gazette of the Province, as is mandatory, which will publish this public tender open to all companies and individuals.

Very reasonable pricing, compared to other places in Europe (Looking at you French Riviera).

New material for people with reduced mobility on the beach of Los Pozos.

The City Council of Puerto del Rosario, through the Department of Beaches, releases new material and equipment on all its beaches to improve and facilitate the enjoyment of the sea and the stay in these spaces by people with reduced mobility.

This week, the mayor of the municipality, Juan Jiménez, together with the Councilor for Beaches, Sonia Álamo, have been able to check the functionality of this new material already incorporated into the beach of Los Pozos thanks to the young Jorge David Fragiel, who wanted to participate by premiering the new equipment by the hand of the lifeguards and his mother, Carmen Barrera.

The beach of Los Pozos, which is also the one that most demands assisted bathrooms for people with reduced mobility, now adds to its accessibility service material means such as two folding amphibious chairs for assisted baths, six flotation vests for assisted baths in amphibious chairs, as well as two sets of beach crutches for people with reduced mobility (PRM).

In addition, it should be noted that Puerto del Rosario is the first municipality on the island that has an electric lifting crane adapted for PMR people who make use of its beaches.

In this way, the beach of Los Pozos thus reinforces its accessibility, expanding its supply of material that has been delivered by the company Novaf Andalucía 2007 S.L., and that will be incorporated into the rest of the beaches of the municipality to facilitate in all of them the bathing of the users with PMR and the good performance of the assisted bathing tasks by the people in charge of carrying it out, in this case, by the personnel of the Lifeguard and Rescue service.

The first municipal president, Juan Jiménez, said that "we continue to improve in accessibility and, in this case, this new material recently received allows us to continue advancing in the priority objective of this government team that is to achieve accessible beaches for all people, offering solutions for all groups so that they can enjoy in a more comfortable and safe way our beaches and their stay in them. "
The Councilor for Beaches, Sonia Álamo, for her part, added that "we continue to comply with one of the requirements of the Blue Flag, which is to continue providing improvements in accessibility to our beaches and, in this case, we provide the beach of Los Pozos, the most demanded even by tourists of elderly cruises, of this much-needed service, and that we will continue to incorporate in the rest of the beaches of the municipality. Year after year the three beaches of the municipality are awarded with the Blue Flag badge because we work to turn our beaches into an example to follow, "concluded the councilor.
