Man saved by member of the public after having heart attack on a beach in Corralejo
A 69-year-old man is in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest last night (Sunday) at approximately 7:25 pm, on a beach in Corralejo, Fuerteventura.
The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received multiple alerts about a man who appeared to be unconscious near the shoreline, and needed urgent medical assistance.
Responding swiftly, coordinators from the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC) gave instructions by phone to one of the callers on how to perform resuscitation techniques until medical help arrived.
Firefighters were dispatched to the location given, continued the resuscitation efforts, using an automated external defibrillator (AED). These actions, combined with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) performed by the medical team when they arrived, successfully revived the man.
