50% of the members of the maritime service of the Civil Guard of Fuerteventura are on leave.
Civil Guards of the Canary Islands denounce the working conditions in the maritime service "for the imposed working conditions"
From AUGC they assure that "50% of the members of the maritime service, as Maritime Detachment of Fuerteventura is on leave due to the imposed working conditions"
The Unified Association of Civil Guards (AUGC) has expressed in a statement the "concern about the new working day imposed, which we consider an abuse and a failure that has had alarming consequences on the workforce."
The security body in the Canary Islands has corroborated the lack of resources and insists that "it is not acceptable that the Agents assigned to Corralejo have to cover the nearly 600 kilometers of coastline that the islands of Fuerteventura, Lanzarote and La Graciosa have".
Lack of personnel
"It is necessary to increase the number of agents and boats of Gran Canaria, which with 236 kilometers monitor the Guards of the Provincial Maritime Service that are based in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria or the Agents of Tenerife that have 700 kilometers for all the islands of that province," they denounce.
From AUGC they assure that "50% of the members of the maritime service, such as Maritime Detachment of Fuerteventura are on leave due to the imposed working conditions. This is unacceptable and jeopardizes the effectiveness of the service."
"Excessive working conditions, lack of adequate rest and staff shortages have led to an untenable situation. Our colleagues deserve fair and safe working conditions," the statement said.
"We call on the general director, Mercedes González, to take urgent measures to address this problem and guarantee the welfare of the agents of the maritime service of the Civil Guard," he concludes.
