On July 18, 2025, the Fuerteventura Civil Guard, as part of Operation Praktiker, arrested a minor as the alleged perpetrator of two serious bodily harm offenses against two women who were staying at hotel complexes in the town of Costa Calma, in the municipality of Pájara.
The investigation, carried out by the Gran Tarajal Territorial Judicial Police Team in collaboration with members of the Morrojable Main Post, began following the assault of a woman on June 23, 2025. The victim was assaulted inside the hotel room where she was staying, in the southern part of Fuerteventura, resulting in serious injuries to her head, hands, and arms.
The victim required transfer to Fuerteventura General Hospital for medical attention.
This incident generated great social alarm, exacerbated by the messages the victim subsequently posted on social media.
During the initial investigation, security camera footage in the area was analyzed. Agents compared the information with employees at nearby hotels, people staying at the hotel during the dates under investigation, and residents and employees of nearby businesses, verifying background information and possible links to similar incidents.
RELATIONSHIP WITH ANOTHER EVENT
Analysis of the images made it possible to link this first attack with another event of similar characteristics, which occurred on December 16, 2024, in which another woman was attacked inside her hotel room, also in Costa Calma and a short distance from the first scene of the Events.
In both cases, the Civil Guard details, an identical modus operandi was observed. Thus, after carefully comparing the security footage, investigators concluded that the same person had entered both rooms and caused serious injuries to the women inside.
With the information gathered, efforts were made to identify the possible perpetrator. The investigation focused on a minor who matched the description.
Under surveillance and monitoring, sufficient evidence was gathered to request authorization from the Las Palmas Juvenile Court to search his home. On July 18, 2025, with the corresponding judicial authorization, the minor's home was entered and searched.
During the operation, the clothing allegedly taken in both incidents was recovered, as well as various objects possibly related to the attacks. Mobile devices were also seized for analysis, with the aim of fully clarifying the Events.
Finally, the officers arrested the minor, who was handed over to the Las Palmas Juvenile Prosecutor's Office. He was ordered to be held at the Tabares Juvenile Center, where he will remain under the appropriate judicial measures.
