The Civil Guard of Fuerteventura has carried out this Saturday, October 12, the Events to commemorate its patron saint, the Virgen del Pilar, in Morro Jable (Pájara), where a mass has been celebrated in Plaza de Los Pescadores and a military parade in the same area. Likewise, this year coincides with the fact that 65 years ago the Traffic specialty was created in the Civil Guard, which ensures road safety on all Canary Islands roads.
The military ceremony was presided over by the Captain in Chief of the 4th Company of the Civil Guard of Puerto del Rosario, Pedro Peinado Benítez, who was accompanied by the Island Director of the Government Delegation in Fuerteventura, María Jesús de la Cruz, and president of the Cabildo de Fuerteventura, Lola García, as well as the mayor of the municipality, Alejandro Jorge. The military parade began by welcoming the attendees, news and review of the force, reading of the award and delivery of decorations.
Later the Chief Captain 4th Company continued with the act of tribute to those who gave their lives for Spain, intonation of the anthem of the corps to end with a great applause from all those present.

In this act, the recognition of the Civil Guard has had "special relevance" with the delivery of a plaque of gratitude to the Radio and TV Group Onda Fuerteventura for being the media that usually covers information about the armed institute and the commemorations of the Civil Guard in Fuerteventura.
The founder of Onda Fuerteventura, Raúl Souto, and the director of the media, Nuria González have received this recognition from the hands of the highest representative of the Benemérita in Fuerteventura, Pedro Peinado Benítez for their "strong commitment to the information and coverage carried out by their work or actions" for which they have been highlighted.
Four decorations have also been awarded, these being three Crosses of Merit of the Civil Guard with white badge and a Cross of Military Merit with white badge, all of them for civil guards assigned to the Puerto del Rosario Company. Here the speeches of authorities were given by the island director of the Government Delegation, the head of the Fuerteventura Company and the mayor of the municipality of Pájara, after which the tribute to the fallen and the intonation of the anthem of the Civil Guard corps were given.
