We generally go out either just before or just after and come back around the 3rd or 5th
 January, maybe we could meet up then.

We paid ours off a few years ago through our solicitor but it took forever to get our deeds back from Bankia. They came up with all kinds of reasons why they couldn’t supply them. Eventually I lost it and called into our solicitor who is Glax and co and instructed them to put bankia on 10 days notice or I was going to the regulator in Madrid. I’m not sure if it was coincidence or what but we had them the next week. We found glax and co quite good to deal with.

I hope you do not mind me asking , but did the bank have penalties for paying off early?

I'm sure I saw something in our (Sabadell) agreement saying that where under five years remain no charges (for paying off early) apply? (Mind you, I haven't looked at the docs for some time, so may have just imagined that!)

It's something we'll be looking at in about a years' time

It will probably take a year to get it sorted.
