Thanks for all the replies. €2.25 for a small bag could be expensive. Tamara I would love to see some pictures
if its not too much trouble. Windermeregolfer do you know where your neighbours got the 1 tonne bag from and how much? Maybe its the same place Tamara mentioned? The problem is the tenant had dogs and cats and fed the strays so the garden is full of years of cat and dog hair. It also has used cigarettes and just general rubbish including dog and cat faeces. I was thinking of trying to set in on fire in patches to burn it as it would be almost impossible to pick it all up.

How about one of those butane weed burners. Would it be possible to do some racking with a grass rake (to ping over the surface rather than dig in) bring into somewhat larger patches/heaps & then burn ?

Setting fire to it seems a bit extreme and in any event could fall foul of the law of the Island. I don't know the law, but have a vague recollection that permission has to be given for a bonfire. Anyone know?

That was why I suggested the butane weed burner, thought a fire might be an issue there, so dry it could easily get out of control

I did think of the burner and I have one in the UK. But getting hold of one in Fuerteventura would be an issue. (does anyone know if anywhere hires them?)
I was really down when I finally got it back and thought about selling it. But after repairs, cleaning and redecorating it is looking good again. I just ran out of time when it came to the garden so I am thinking of coming over again and finishing it.

Cofemax and Saavedra both sell the gas burner wand. I use mine to burn weeds and pine needle litter. Attach it to your BBQ gas bottle.

Well done Archer 👍👍
If they sell it, it’s supposedly ok to use 😁😁
