It was also agreed that the City Council develop a planning of public spaces for parking that solve the problems of parking in the area of the capital in the medium or long term.
For the Mayor of Puerto del Rosario, Juan Jiménez, this initiative will allow to combine the interests of all the residents of Puerto del Rosario, since there will continue to be a wide range of regulated parking lots only in the morning and not operational on weekends (zone green and blue) but also the possibility of parking in the centre for free and with all the guarantees of security and accessibility, avoiding inconvenience to the neighbours of the areas close to these spaces enabled as free parking.
The regulation of parking lots in the centre with the blue zone and the green zone helps to allow the rotation of parking lots and makes it possible for a greater number of people to go to administrative units and green areas, as parking is easier, but it is not a solution for the hundreds of neighbours who have to park all morning in the down town area.
As public lands that are going to be the object of this Plan we have the one that is currently in service at the fairgrounds (400 places), a plot of 4,000 m2 behind the Old Health Center (150 places) and the land of the site of the former DISA, of about 10,000 m2, which is already owned by the municipality (400 seats).
Within private lands that can be the object of this Plan, if the owners authorize it, another 300 places can leave
For the Councillor for Works, Manuel Travieso, according to the expectations of this Plan, in the centre of Puerto del Rosario, there will be a short distance between 1,000 and 1,250 free parking spaces, in paved and properly marked areas.
