I want to order an item from Amazon Spain for delivery to our house in Lajares.
This is the first time I've done this so Just wondered what others experience has been. Roughly how long does it take?
Will it get delivered to our house, or will we have to collect it from the post office?
Thanks!...Keith

How long is a piece of string?
It will depend on many factors, if it is as you say Amazon es there will be a reasonable lead time pretty close to what their predicted delivery date is, as here is no customs involvement.
But this will depend on who is going to deliver it Correos or Courier, Correos has a horrendous backlog in Madrid of packages waiting to be shipped to the Islands my understanding of it from a friend in the business is if there has been a back log since last
October, I will not go in the whys and wherefores, and it is not as bad as it was, whilst if it is coming by courier there is no problem, as you ask will you have to collect it I assume it is coming by post, and again there are a number of factors does your property have a post box, or does the post man deliver to your door? here we have a post box, but sometimes I have to collect and sometimes they knock the door,
Good luck and please let us know what happens.

Please ensure you add your NIE number into your name, eg
Fred Bloggs X123456A
That certainly helps the progress in Customs, and yes, I've had goods from the mainland go to customs and been held there for weeks. Currently awaiting a package that was due early
September and the tracking still says 'being processed in Customs'
As fir Corres, if it needs a signature, they deliver. If not, I need to collect!
Tom.

My experience:
sometimes Amazon send by Correos - great, our postman is an angel, we always receive it promptly at the house, leaves in hidden place if we're not in (by prior arrangement).
but more often than not they send by courier. This is a nightmare, none of the couriers can ever find us. DHL don't even try and just say they tried on tracking, parcel ends up back wherever. I've been to their office in El Matorral and complained, they just shrug. I've complained to Amazon who promise not to use DHL for our stuff but that doesn't work either. Other couriers at least phone me and we agree to meet at a bar in the village, that works ok if I am at home when they phone, sometimes I might be too far away and have to say 'manana'. With one courier he asked for 'location' on WhatsApp - that worked well!
As well as your NIE, try to fit in your Spanish mobile number on your address detail.
ps - this is not just Amazon, it's ordering anything from anywhere! Amazon stuff tends to get through pretty quickly in my experience as they do the proper customs forms - other senders are not so good and that causes holdups.

Mail seems to be improving:
I wanted 3 items of "specialist" equipment.
Amazon ES could/would not deliver to Canaries
Amazon UK prices in £ were the same as in Euros!!!
Amazon De were excellent as in a previous thread by Tamara they put our Spanish tel No + NIE on the address label.
2 items came via UPS to Lanzarote then here via private courier.
1 item came direct from Italy via correos.
Total time 2 weeks no hiccup with customs or problems with delivery, the private courier actually phoned to check we were in.
I'm happy

We have just received our last Christmas presents, sent on 12 Dec. But at least they got here. Some from another relative have just landed back in UK!
