The people I wrote about went to the airport last Thursday and got seats on a flight to Gatwick with Easy Jet. Thanks to those who provided me with some useful infrmation and a CAA link.

We know people intending to head back to the UK on Thursday their planned return flight. Think they're on Jet2. Not sure how well that will work, but I don't think they're bothered if it's cancelled.

I finally managed to speak with Ryanair yesterday morning and was told that all flights to Spain were cancelled this weekend and that rescue flights would be arranged in due course. I relaxed a little.
But the more I look into things the more concerned I get that everyone has already gone. We are up in Cotillo so don’t see too many Brits right now. Can any of you guys in Caleta give me any clue whether lots of holidaymakers are still holed up in hotels and apartments around Caleta or have they all gone home already ? Many thanks.

I can only say there are none left on this complex, and the town appears very quiet from what I can see from the terrace.

According to the news, Torres told Sanchez that there were still 20,000 tourists in the Canary Islands, wanting to leave.
They do understand and have told the British Ambassador they will not be turned out on the street.

Thanks Archer. When did he say that ?
Ive gone from being fairly relaxed to sh*t scared that we are the last ones and have missed all the boats. All I’m guilty of is waiting and trying to call for information rather than joining a scrum at the airport for a plane to anywhere with my 81 yo mother. Maybe I’m a naive fool.
