For anyone interested there is a flight on Iberia from Lanzarote via Madrid to LHR this Friday. (08/05/20)
Problem is it has a long stay over in Madrid airport. https://www.iberia.com/flights/?market=G...ailability

Thanks for that. I am hoping that sooner rather than later a direct flight will pop up!!! (wishful thinking ) Just sticking it out here for a long as it is feasible, as no rush to get back right now, but there will come a time when it is super necessary to get back to the UK so will have to bite the bullet and do that horrendous stopover in Madrid. Have been trying to avoid that due to old age and health reasons!

From what I see that Friday flight seems to be every Friday, so it is always an option as a last resort. My concerns are besides the stop over the higher risk of infection in Madrid. Also if the flight to LHR has a delay or technical fault you have longer in Madrid airport as I imagine like here all the hotels are closed. I`m hoping Debbie Edgington can sort out a direct flight from Fuerte which would be better. Not bothered where I land in UK as I`m sure we can find a way back, Oleta Adams song sums it up "Get here if you can".

If the Madrid flight was the only option, we would stay in the airport overnight. Even if a hotel was availabe, I know I would not sleep anyway. Someone on another site said he spent the night in Madrid airport. Said it was OK very quiet with just a few other people and some security presence. Only vending machines for drinks were available as all food outlets closed, but he took his own food so was OK.

Don`t know if there many flights at the moment from Madrid to London or if it is just 1 a week. I would do 1 night in airport Emmi, but any more than that it might try my patience. Plus as I get older I like some creature comforts, like a decent bed and a regular shower.

I do not know all of the ins and outs, but german acquaintance is flying to Frankfurt this sunday with condor
The plane is transporting goods in, people out. If any one is desperate then possibly Frankfurt to London? She also thinks this is a weekly flight. Note the conversation was in span/inglis/alemain

Worth checking first before buying a ticket IMO.

Twenty minutes ago I saw a Tui plane come in to land at FUE. According to the flight arrivalschedule it was from Munich. Repatriation for some Germans possibly?
