The man's lifeless body has been transferred to Lanzarote airport to proceed with its identification and conclude the search for the third crew member of Russian origin who was travelling on the sailboat with two others, also Russians, who have survived the shipwreck.

The two survivors were rescued early this morning, one in the water by a Maritime Rescue helicopter and the other on land by firefighters from the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium.

The rescue of the lifeless body of this third person took place after 10.30 a.m. (local time), sources from the Emergency Consortium have indicated.

After the helicopter sighted the wreck - at around 2.40 am - it proceeded to rescue the first survivor in the water, who confirmed that three people were travelling on the sailboat and that it had been shipwrecked when it hit the rocks.

The three people left the ship without a life jacket, according to the crew member, who was evacuated by helicopter to Lanzarote airport, where an ambulance was waiting for him and took him to a hospital.
