Today, at the press conference of the Governing Council of the Canary Islands, it was reported that Fuerteventura goes down to alert level 1 due to COVID-19. The new measures will be in effect until May 6.



Alert Level 1 Restrictions:



Curfew: 00:00 to 6:00.

Maximum capacity in public or private spaces: 10 people, except cohabitants.

Hotel and restaurant establishments: maximum 10 people per table on the terrace and 6 people per table indoors. Closing of the premises before 00:00 hours, maximum capacity: 100% in outdoor terraces and 75% indoors. Bar: maximum 4 people.

Indoor sports activity in facilities and outdoors: maximum 10 people per group, including the monitor if the safety distance of two meters cannot be maintained. Maximum capacity: 100% in each stay. Non-professional federated activity allowed in modalities with more than 10 people without exceeding the maximum necessary for the development of the activity.

The State of Alarm imposed by the Spanish Government comes to an end on 9th May, and then the responsibility for local control passes to the Regional Governments.
The Canarian Government have put into place the same restrictions from 9th May and details were published in the BOE this morning.
The Level 1 restrictions for Fuerteventura are:
- No curfew.
- The maximum number of people that can meet in public and private spaces is 10, except in the case of cohabitants.
- Specific measures for hospitality:
- Interiors 75% capacity with maximum 10 people per table.
- Exteriors 100% capacity with maximum 10 people per table.
- Anywhere serving food to customers inside must keep records of customers for the Ministry of Health in case of an outbreak.
- Max 4 people at bar together.
- All must have 2 metres spacing.
- Closure by 1:00am, home delivery allowed until midnight.
- Sport: For group activities in the interior areas of sports facilities and centres where it is not possible to maintain a safety distance of 2 metres permanently, a maximum number of 10 people per group is allowed, including the monitor
- 75% of the capacity will not be exceeded for each of the rooms and gyms.
-Non-professional federated sports activity is allowed in modalities with more than 10 people to exceed the maximum necessary for the development of the activity.
- Public transport: Surveillance of urban land transportation will be reinforced at peak times to avoid crowds. At peak times, avoid using public transport for non-essential or postponed trips. It is recommended to increase the frequency of public transport schedules, guaranteeing adequate ventilation and compliance with prevention measures, which include not eating or drinking and using the mask correctly.

After a meeting this evening, the Canarian Government have decided to keep Fuerteventura at Level 2.
