Insults and violence by the hammocks of a hotel in Corralejo.
The 'hammock war' reaches the limit in a hotel in Fuerteventura "Dad, come down that they are hitting mom"
The so-called 'hammock war' adds a new chapter in the Canary Islands, this time in a well-known hotel located in Corralejo Santiago and his family chose the island to spend a few days of vacation, which unfortunately were marred by an alleged aggression to his wife by two English tourists, advances Diario de Avisos.
The Events took place on Monday, just after lunch. According to Santiago, his wife, 53, and their two daughters, ages 18 and 22, decided to go to the pool while he took a nap. The woman, who "knows no English," sat on a deckchair that was empty and suddenly two British men, in their 60s and 30s, "started insulting her." The reason? Santiago affirms that "they took for custom that the hammocks that were in front of his room were theirs."
"To throw her out, the older man, who appeared to be drunk, overturned the hammock, which fell on her foot," says the husband. She freaked out, she didn't understand what was going on. Neither do his daughters. According to Santiago's testimony, other hotel guests who were at the pool at the time immediately reproached the violent attitude of the two men.
For their part, the young women sent a WhatsApp to their father to ask him to come as soon as he could: "Dad, come down that they are hitting mom." He says they were also pushed. "I went down and two seconds later the Civil Guard arrived, which separated everyone" and took the data of the victims, the alleged aggressors and the lifeguard of the pool.
"WE WERE AFRAID"
What really outrages Santiago is the attitude of the manager with the issue of sunbeds. "That morning, before the altercation, he told me, literally: 'I'm not going to face the English. Face yourself." And it is that the guest had already warned the hotel that hammocks were missing, receiving contradictory answers. A situation for which he submitted a complaint form.
"People get up at 6.30 in the morning. If you do not want to get up early, you will not have a lounger. And, of course, we have paid to come and spend a few days in Fuerteventura, but we also want to take a bath and lie in the hammocks, "he stresses.
After the pool incident, Santiago and his family feared that things would get worse and opted to dine outside the hotel. "We bought something at the supermarket and went to see the sunset at El Cotillo; We were cowed," he says. And to avoid further conflicts with the two Britons, they contacted the travel agency, which changed their hotel.
"THEY DID NOT TAKE ACTION AGAINST THE AGGRESSORS"
According to Santiago, the hotel establishment "did not take action against the aggressors and we were treated with contempt. In fact, we had to leave because we were afraid of being hit or anything."
Those affected plan to report the facts in Albacete, where they reside. "When we arrive, we will go to have my wife's injury report, which hurts her ankle and back, and we will file a complaint."
The hotel manager has declined to give his version of Events to this newspaper.
