Such sad news. She sounded like a lovely caring person who loved nature and her garden and cared deeply about the environment. Fuerteventura and Tindaya will be a sadder place without her. As will this Forum.

I messaged Cotillo Tom this morning as I thought it was strange there had been no posts by Tamara since April 2nd and now I feel awful that I started the ball rolling re this very sad day for the forum and even worse that I have only just gone back on the forum to read Tom's message back to me and the posts regarding Tamara's passing.
Elaine and I had met with Tamara 3 or 4 times over the years, the last time was in the Mercadona carpark near El Matorral last October when she seemed in fine form. You could not meet a more friendly and very helpful person. Tamara will sadly be missed by all of us who use the forum to keep abreast of what is happening on Fuerteventura and in particular the wildlife and plants in her garden which she loved and was so proud of when she showed us round it 3 or 4 years ago. Our condolences to Peter and all Tamara's family. We will remember her with fondness, in her memory I hope we can all find time to keep the Fuerteventura news on the forum coming.

I had a few online conversations with Tamara, all of which I felt the presence of someone who was very caring & gave considered opinions. She was a genuine diamond on a social site like this, there was no aggressive tone in her replies to anyone, something which is a rare thing nowadays (many of us remember the old Fuerteventura site).
So wherever you are Tamara thank you for being a light to us all. As Dave Allen used to say " May your God go with you".

I have only just read this thread and I am totally knocked sideways. I first met Tamara over 3 years ago. I read her posts avidly on this and the former forum and always found them very interesting. I admired the knowledge and the eloquence with which she delivered the posts. I knew nothing about her personally, how old, where she lived, nothing.
We set out one day on a walk from La Olivia to Cotillo via Tindaya then to continue down the barranco to Esquinso and then on to Cotillo. We called in at the little bar in Tindaya for a beer and tried to sort ourselves one of the very few tables in the sun. This was proving impossible as there was only one table in the sun and it was occupied by a lady with a small dog drinking coffee and reading a book. She offered us her table. I thanked her and for some reasons, I don’t know why, and totally out of the blue I asked her ‘hope you don’t mind me asking, are you Tamara from the Furteventura Forum?’ Very surprised she said yes how do you know? I didn’t. Husband who told me not to be so silly prior to me asking her then said the same. I still don’t know how I knew to this day. All I know is I had a connection with Tamara for whatever reason and we were meant to meet each other. The three of us then spent a very long lunch break getting to know each other. We clicked immediately. We had a lot in common. She had so much knowledge about the Island all 3 of us loved. We only left because it was December and we wouldn’t walk to Cotillo before dark. We then kept in contact via email and the following year she invited us to lunch at her beautiful villa with her partner who was also very welcoming, intelligent and a good story to tell. She had prepared a lovely lunch for us. We walked to Tindaya from La Oliver only to find tamara driving towards the end of the path to pick us up to ensure we would find her house o.k. The roads in Tindaya aren’t marked very well, that’s the sort of person she was. We had a lovely lunch, interesting conversation, followed by a tour of her amazing garden. All the water used in her house was stored and then watered her amazing garden overnight. She was a true eco worrier. She grew so many exotic plants, veg, shrub and flowers I can’t begin to tell. We met up with Tamara and her partner last December and had a very long and enjoyable lunch at El Sombraro, Corralejo. over looking the bay. She was as funny, interesting and knowledgeable as ever. Said she had never eaten overlooking that aspect of the bay, despite once living in Corralejo for some years, and we planed to do it again this year. She had worked hard at speaking Spanish and was doing extremely well. We were impressed at her progress despite her under selling it. We were really looking forward to meeting up with her and her partner this December/January to repeat our get together. She was truly a ‘good sort’ and will be very sadly missed by us and many I’m sure . I’m extremely grateful that she touch my life. GOD REST TAMARA ONE AMAZING LADY.

Absolutely awful for someone to get such news and pass so quickly afterwards.
She was such a consistent and positive contributor that she earned nothing but respect, even from those like myself who didn't really know her. Condolences to all who were fortunate enough to know her better; she seemed like a genuinely lovely person, and will be missed.
