Phone call at 7.30 last night. Appointment for 11.00 this morning at Centro Salud in Corralejo.  Very efficient service. Pfizer jab for us oldies. Second jab in three weeks.

Tried to tell my wife it means no cooking, no washing up, no cleaning, no shopping for three weeks but she is convinced I misunderstood the Spanish!!!

I really must stop copying Tom.

I got a phone call 1800 last night for 1000 this morning and was going to ask if they could fit my wife in.
However whilst I was waiting they phoned her and with the help of the chap at the desk arranged for her to jump the small queue and we were "done " together. we then had to wait 15 minutes to check no immediate reaction, we didnt but one lady there fainted but nothing serious.

Oh yes The Spanish nurse definitely said men are more sensitive and should not do any kitchen chores for at least 3 days!!!

I received AZ jab on Monday and spent most of yesterday in bed, felt dreadful. Much better this morning. 3 month wait for 2nd dose.
OH received Pfizer jab yesterday. 2nd dose in 3 weeks.
Quite impressed with how quickly it all seems to be rolling now 👍

We had the AZ jab yesterday with no major side effects, a bit of a headache and arm where jab applied a bit sore.

They seem to be doing early 60s at the moment so presumably if over that and you wanted it, you've had your first jab at least. If you haven't had the call and you are in State Health system, call them or pop in to check they have correct phone number on record. I've recommended that action to 3 friends who all got a call within 30 mins of giving new phone numbers!

Vaccinations for those outside the public health system.

We have been trying to chase up the vaccination position for us,  with private health insurance,  but outside the public system.

We contacted the Consular office in Las Palmas and received the following reply today ( we do not use facebook):

"We are sorry that you were unable to access the content on our Brits in Spain Facebook channel.

In this case, we suggest you sign up for email alerts using the link on the Travel Advice summary page. You will then be sent notifications of any updates as they happen. This is how you can ensure you get the most up to date advice.

The Spanish government has been very clear that they will provide the vaccine to everyone in Spain as a matter of public health, regardless of nationality or how you access healthcare in Spain. If you are already registered for state healthcare you will be contacted by your regional health service to make an appointment when it is your turn to be vaccinated. For British nationals with private health insurance, the Spanish authorities are asking insurance companies to coordinate with regional health services in order to provide vaccines to their customers.

Because Spain operates its health system regionally, the way people access the vaccine will differ depending on where you live. Please be aware that this is information from the Spanish authorities and is subject to change.

Currently, we are awaiting further information from the Government of the Canary Islands regarding their vaccine plan for those who do not have public healthcare, and will update this section in due course.

We hope this information has helped to reassure you.

Regards

So we  just have to wait.

Some of the jabs are being given at an Elderly People's Day Centre in Corralejo, called Josefina Pla, in Calle Tortola. It's in the area behind the swimming pool and Mercadona.

Had a call for my second vaccination on the 27th, precisely 21 days after the first jab and it is at the Seniors Day Centre, as outlined by Tamara in the post above.
